👒Spring Outdoor Qigong Report:

April 20, 21 We practiced qigong in a fresh greenery near the stream of Demizu at Kyoto Imperial Garden.  Also April 24 at Kyoto City International Foundation amphitheater, the shade of a tree was cool and refreshing.

We practiced standing meditation at first, and then some moving methods.  The more we concentrated on inside of our bodies, the less we might be bothered with the surrounding noises.

We found ourselves in nature’s embrace even in downtown.

Outdoor qigong training is as useful as indoor, just like qigong training  in a group is as useful as alone.

On sunny days in spring and autumn, we would like to do qigong outdoors as much as possible.

Participants:  The priest of the temple, and other 4 people, including a man who is good at martial arts, and a Dutch handcraftsman, artist)
Exercises:
  1. Loosening tension of legs, hip joints, and shoulder blades
  2. 洗髄功 Sen zui kou (Qigong exercise effective for desk work fatigue. Pass energy through meridians on the back, belly, and around waist.  Refresh yourself with twisting the spinal cord.)
  3. 立式静功 Risshiki seikou (If you do it every day, your body energy will flow smoothly, and it will synchronize with that of the universe. As a result, it compensates for insufficient energy, and wash excess energy away.)
  4. 小抱石球 Shouhou sekkyuu (It is said to be effective for digestive system, especially peptic ulcer.)
  5. 双手穿掌 Soushu senshou (It is said to be effective for the lungs, trachea and bronchi. Unfold your chest and ease your shoulders.)
  6. 托天撈月 Takutenn rougetsu (It is said to be effective in the digestive system, especially chronic gastritis.)
  7. Cooling down exercise (At the end, the meridian is tightened and resistance is stored in the body.  Also, if you feel sleepy or dull with above exercises, this one has an effect to change it to a clear awareness of everyday life.)
